Andalucia

Well here we are in the sunshine & warmth once more in the city known for its famous barber & its bitter marmalade oranges (please dont mention UEFA Cup Finals! ).
Its a city of many contrasts. From quaint little streets :-

It sounds to me like you are in south west Spain. A very nice place to be at this time of year.

I bet it is warmer there than it is in Billingham at the moment.

Yes. Warm & sunny -- 25/26 C.
I cant believe how lucky I am with the weather. Out of 16 stays abroad over the last 3 years , I`ve only had 4 days when it rained --and two of those were in Japan (where I`d never seen such rain  ! )

From the quaint narrow streets to the beautiful architecture , Seville has it all :-

Any Star Wars fans or those who`ve seen "Laurence of Arabia" will recognise this magnificent building.
Its the Plaza de Espana. It covers such an area its very difficult to Photograph. The above pic is just a small section.

As well as the fences, bridges and building decoration ceramics there are dozens of huge panels (about a metre square) around the lower walls. You can just see them in the above pic.
Each one represents an Andalucian town or event. This one Granada:-

[Hi Ken

Just looked at your photos from abroad, which are magic; for one moment I thought Shildon had a dramatic makeover.

Cheers Katt & David. The previous pic neatly takes me to the next port of call --- the magnificent Alhambra in Granada :-

Image

The Alhambra (meaning "Red Fortress" ) is quite vast , covering about 40 acres & comprising castle, chapels, halls, many towers and lovely secluded gardens like this one :-

Unfortunately, Chel ,if the pound continues to plummet its going to get expensive to travel anywhere abroad.
Here`s a pretty little courtyard :-

Pomegranites grow in abundance in most southern mediteranian countries but I`ve never seen so many in the centre of a city as in Grenada :-

Granada is a very wealthy city, even the trams are quite swish :-

but ,as everywhere ,theres always those less fortunate & on the outskirts many still live in caves :-
